  • DID EVENTS AT LITTLE ROCK HIGH SCHOOL BRING PROGRESS FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT?
    • Yes Because..
      • helped to moderate some of the white Americans views
      • involved the president so showed civil rights was an issue which could no longer be ignored
      • many US citizens saw racial hate in the southern states for the first time
      • it was a big public failure which needed to be changed
      • more laws were assed to de-segregate schools
    • No Because..
      • reliance on federal courts was not enough to secure a change
      • demonstrated how states would be over ruled by federal government when necessary
      • was seen on TV all around the world so did the USA  no good to be seen as a oppressive nation when it was criticising communist countries for not allowing basic human rights to citizens
