    • Attachment is adaptive - happened because of survival needs
    • Imprinting - critical period - 1-3 yrs
    • First ever  attachment stronger than all others - MONOTROPY
      • Internal Working Model formed - helps create other attachments

    • Even when growing in independence -  baby wants to have proximity with mother
      • They get  regular comfort and reasurrance
    • Attachment is two-way
      • Baby gives SOCIAL RELEASES and the mother is programmed to responde
