    • What is CF?
      • Cystic fibrosis is an inherited condition in which the lungs and digestive system can become clogged with thick, sticky mucus.
    • Signs+ symptoms
      • Huge appetite
      • Persistent coughing
      • Excessive sweating leading to salty skin
      • Pale,oily,very smelly faeces
    • Impacts
      • Physical
        • Due to often being ill or having a lack of energy people suffering with CF may not be able to do things of a more physical nature.
      • Intellectual
        • may miss a lot of time off from school due to recurrent infections and so therefore low attendance
          • Become  behind on education
      • Emotional & Social
        • Daily treatment/ physiotherapy can be distressing and takes a lot of time, preventing taking part in some activities.
        • Loneliness can occur due to not being able to do certain things and missing time with friends and peers due to hospital visits.
        • may be teased and picked on due to persistent cough and the fact that they may be underweight and small for their age.
      • Financial
        • As people with CF are living longer , healthier and more independent lives may more are getting to work part-time or full time.
        • Benefits available to support people in work and employers should arrange suitable adjustments in the work place to meet needs.
      • Impact on family and carers
        • Emotional strain due to worrying about the individual and whether they are at risk of an infection  and trying to keep them safe.
        • Parents may have to give up work to be a full time carer for their child.
