- Crooks' room description and race
- 'the ***** stable buck'
- This is one of his nick-names, once again, work isnt separated from his personal life, as 'stable' is in the name
- 'a little shed that leaned off the wall of the barn'
- He has hardly any living space
- 'Crooks' bunk was a long box filled with straw, on which his blankets were flung'
- Although he has a bad back, he is made to sleep on straw with only a few blankets
- 'Crooks had his apple box over his bunk, and in it a range of medicine bottles, both for himself and for the horses'
- They don't even give him a separate area where he can put his own stuff, always reminded of work
- 'Scattered about were a number of personal possesions; for being alone, Crooks could leave his things about'
- this may be a benefit, but he works, sleeps eats and lives alone, all day, everyday
- 'You got no right to come in my room. This here's my room. Nobody got any right in here but me'
- He's so used to being lonely, that he defends hinmself straight away when Lennie comes in
- 'If I say something, why it's just a ****** sayin' it'
- Black people were always ignored, like they were just a piece of dirt to the white people
- 'the ***** stable buck'
- 'You got no right to come in my room. This here's my room. Nobody got any right in here but me'
- He's so used to being lonely, that he defends hinmself straight away when Lennie comes in
