  • Covalent bonding
    • Share electrons so that they have a full outer shell
    • They only share electrons in their outer shell (highest energy levels)
    • Having a full outer shell gives them an electronic structure of a noble gas
    • Each covalent bond provides one extra shared electron for each atom
    • Each atom involved has to make enough covalent bonds to fill up its outer shell
