    • Adults in modern society control children's daily routines, including the times when they get up, eat, go to school..ect.
    • Adults control the speed at which children"grow up."
      • They determine whether or not they are too young to take on an activity, responsibility or behaviour.
        • This is different in third world countries.
          • Example:Holmes: Among the Samoans, "too young,"is never given as a reason for not letting a child undergo a particular task.
