  • Colorimetry
    • 1 - Select a filter with the complementary colour to the solution being tested i.e. green solution = orange filter.
      • 2 - Zero the colorimeter using a control solution (i.e. distilled water) in a curvette.
        • 3 - Make a series of solutions of known concentrations above and below that of the unknown sample. Measure the absorbance of each known solution and plot a calibration curve on a graph (absorbance against concentration).
          • 4 - Measure the absorbance of the unknown solution. Read off it's concentration on the calibration curve.
    • Colorimetry is a technique used to find the concentration of a coloured solution.
