  • Cognitive interview
    • 4 stages:
      • Report everything: however trivial or irreliventit may seem (based on consistency of recall)
      • Context Reinstatement: mentallyrecreate the  enviroment - thoughts, feelings, weather, proceeding events... (consistency of recall)
      • Change the order: e.g reverse order (retrieval through different routes)
      • Change the perspective: i.e to other witnesses (retrieval through different routes)
    • Fisher et al: police officers - some doing CI some SI, CI obtained more correct facts - (CI helps improve accuracy of EWT)
    • Kohnken et al: meta analysis (52) - 34% increase in amount of correct info from CI compared to SI
    • Milne & bull: better to use all sections of CI - works better.
    • Limited use by police: will only use certain aspects of CI which they think will be most useful
      • Milne & bull: better to use all sections of CI - works better.
    • Memon et al: when officers only given short CI training ( 4hrs) didn't inc. accuracy of recall
