- Gross: Using a large group of muscles: weightlifter
- Fine: Using a small amount of muscles: darts
- Environmental Continuum
- Closed: A skill with isn't affected by the environ: golf swing in practice
- Open: A skill that is affected by the environ: football pass during a match)
- Continuity
- Discrete: A skill has a clear beginning, and end: penalty flick
- Serial: A group of discrete elements in a sequence: triple jump
- Continuous: A skill with no obvious start / end: cycling
- Pacing
- Self paced: A skill which is executed at the performers rate: javelin
- Externally paced: A skill which is controlled by the environ: reacting to a netball pass
- Difficulty
- Complex: A skill with a high level of information processing: gymnastics routine
- Low: A skill made up of sub-routines that can be broken down: sprinting
- Organisation
- High: Sub-routines are hard to break up without destroying the dynamics of the skill: golf swing
- Low: Made up of sub-routines which can be broken down and practiced individually: front crawl
- Interaction
- Individual: The competitor performs alone: diving
- Coaction: Performed in the presence of the opposition but no direct contact: sprinting
- Interaction: The outcome is influenced / effected by the opposition: rugby
- Kinesthetic Sense
- The sense or physical feeling that we get of the movements we make.
