- Classical music is very balanced with equal four bar phrases and two bar call and rsponse
- Uses fewer ornaments than baroque music
- Composers started to write in sonata form
- Subtle dynamic changes (crescendos and diminuendos)
- Piano and Clarinet are invented, orchestras get much bigger
- Classical music was originally written for wealthy,aristocratic patrons but later became available for middle class people as well

- Most music is homophonic, sometimes polyphonic
- Mainly diatonic
