        • Ships became to big for the Docklands therefore it became unused and closed

        • 50% of the Docklands was derelict
        • 1/3 of housing is inadaquate

        • 24064 new homes built
        • £7.7 billion in private sector improvements
        • 144km of new roads built
        • Construction of the Docklands Light Railway improving transport
    • SHANTY TOWNS - ROCHINIA RIO
      • PROBLEMS
        • Transport is a major problem as the roads are mostly dirt roads and poeple cant afford bikes let alone cars so if a worker finds work in the CBD then there will be difficulity in maintaing it.
        • The housing is of a very poor standard with no building regulations - health and safety. Also lack basic amenities.
        • Crime has control of the shanty town not the police.
        • No decent education so there is a lower chance of future generations escaping the shanty towns.
        • Children as young as 6 have jobs to support the family.
        • Sewage runs down the streets spreading disease.
        • High population density EG mexico 50% total inhabitants live in shanty towns.
      • IMPROVEMNTS
        • Rain water used as tap water.
        • In Rio - Barra De Tiguca, a new town was built to comabt the overcrowding
        • Replacing flimsy materials with brick and concrete.
        • 1000 new homes built
        • Infrastructure improved EG TV channel TV ROC
        • Streets were paved and lit.
        • Goverments have accepted that Rochina is unlikely to go so instead of trying to get rid of i, they are aiming to improve it.
