- Sample
- 32 Australian children (22 males, 10 females) age range 1.5-6 (average 3.5)
- Parent provided information consent, also participated by completing questionnaire and phone interview
- Strengths: both gender and wide range of people and age
- Weakness: more males then females, questionnaire over phone, person may get distracted
- Procedure (after 2 weeks); assessed over the phone at random, asked if they had used Funhaler on the previous day, the end of 2 weeks they were interviewed again and attitudes and compliance were measured.
- Aim: To test if positive reinforcement with the funhaler improved compliance in children with asthma, compared to using a normal inhaler
- Conclusion: Use of funhaler and self reinforcement improves clinical outcomes, e.g. lowering rates of asthma attacksSelf reinforcement can improve overall health of children
