  • Cervical Smear
    • woman undresses from waist down
    • lays on bed
      • ankles together, drops knees
    • done by GP or nurse
    • a speculum is used
      • inserted into vagina and opened so you can see the cervix
    • uses small soft brush to collect cells out of the cervix
    • cells collected are put in a pot
    • sent off to a lab to be looked at under a microscope
    • doesn't look for cancer, looks for abnormalities
    • 93% of tests are clear, 6% of tests are abnormal
