  • Cell size and magnification
    • cm --> mm = x10
      • mm --> um = x1000
        • um --> nm = x1000
    • um = micrometres. nm = nanometre
    • Resolution for the human eye = 100um.
    • Actual size = Image size/ magnification
    • Image size = Actual size x   magnification
    • Magnification = Image size/  actual size
    • Total magnification = Eye piece lens magnification x objective lens
      • Eyepiece=x15 objective=x12 Magnification = 15x12= 180 = x180
    • Image size = 50mm, magnification = x1200  A = I/M = 50/1200 = 0.0416 x 1000 = 41.6um
    • Leave calculations for actual size in um and calculations for image size in mm
