  • Carbon dioxide transport
    • released from RESPIRING TISSUES
    • Carbon dioxide from the lungs is transported in three ways:
      • 1. 5% is DISSOLVED directly into the PLASMA
        • 2. 10% is COMBINED directly with HAEMOGLOBIN to form the compound CARBOAMINOHAEMOGLOBIN
  • Must be removed and transported to the lungs
  • 3. 85% is transported in the form of HYDROGENCARBONATE ions
    • Carbon dioxide from the lungs is transported in three ways:
