  • Carbon Cycle
    • Major components of all organic molecules e.g. Carbohydrate, fat and protein.
    • Combustion releases CO2 back into the atmosphere, it is 'locked up' within fossil fuels.
    • Deforestation has removed large quantities of photosynthesising biomass and so less CO2 is removed from the atmosphere
    • The production of carbohydrates protein and fats contribute to plant growth and therefore animal growth
      • I.e. The dead remains of plants and animals are acted upon by saprobionts
        • (micro-organism that obtains its food from dead or decaying remains)
          • which are in the soil and releases CO2 back into the atmosphere.
