    • Bukharin was another main contender for the role of leader in the country
      • Bukharin was one of the younger generation of bolsheviks and was nearly 10 years younger than stalin.
    • Bukharin joined the party in 1905 and was arrested in 1912 however he escaped to germany and had gained a large influence in the party by 1917
    • Bukharin was known as the parties 'Golden boy' and continue to gain more and more influence as time went on although lenin stated that he was not an able leader
    • He was arguably the most likable out of the competitors and even his opponents found it difficult to dislike him
