      • bubonic plague, spread by bites fleas and rats carried on ships, caused headaches
        • followed with pus and sweeping on skin
      • pneumonic plague, airborne- spread of coughs and sneezes. attacked lungs, making painful to breathe- causing cough blood

      • some people carried charms or used magic potions

      • thought plague spread by human contact

      • fewer workers around, could demand higher wages
      • cost of land decreased and even peasants bought some land
      • government created laws that stopped peasants moving around country
        • black death might have helped cause  peasants revolt and collapse of feudal system
