- Not caused by parasite invading the body.
- Vitamin deficiency(scurvy), mineral deficiency(anaemia), body disorder (diabetes, cancer), genetic inheritance (red-green colour blindness.)
- Cancer
- Cells keep on dividing to form an abnormal mass called a tumour.
- To help prevent it-no smoking, sunbathe a little, good helthy lifestyle, avoid red meat and prcessed food, not too much alcohol, regular exercise, 5 a day.
- Tumours - benign=does not spread through the body, malignant=spreads through the body causing more cells to grow.
- Pathogen-microorgansims that cause disease.
- Damage cells and release chemicals called toxins. eg-fungi, bacteria, viruses, protoza.
