  • Biology - Diseases
    • Non Infectious diseases
      • Not caused by parasite invading the body.
      • Vitamin deficiency(scurvy), mineral deficiency(anaemia), body disorder (diabetes, cancer), genetic inheritance (red-green colour blindness.)
    • Cancer
      • Cells keep on dividing to form an abnormal mass called a tumour.
      • To help prevent it-no smoking, sunbathe a little, good helthy lifestyle, avoid red meat and prcessed food, not too much alcohol, regular exercise, 5 a day.
      • Tumours - benign=does not spread through the body, malignant=spreads through the body causing more cells to grow.
      • Pathogen-microorgansims that cause disease.
        • Damage cells and release chemicals called toxins. eg-fungi, bacteria, viruses, protoza.
        • Pathogens
    • Spreading
      • Malaria is spread by vector from human to human
        • Caused by mosquito bite - prevention=mos. nets, insect repellent, draining stagnant water, insecticides to kill mosq.
  • Vitamin deficiency(scurvy), mineral deficiency(anaemia), body disorder (diabetes, cancer), genetic inheritance (red-green colour blindness.)
