    • why are people baptised?
      • A person may choose to be baptised once they have decided for themselves that they want to live as a Christian. This is known as believers’ baptism.
      • When someone is baptised they are cleaning their souls of sin, this cannot be done by themselves so that is why baptism is done by another person.
    • What are the various ways baptism occurs and why?
      • The most common way of being baptised is by being immersed into the water, either by being fully dunked by the preist ,like jesus was, or kneeling down and having water poured on their head.
      • other common ways to become baptised are by having the cross drawn on their forhead, also you can have water poured on your head three times by the priest, this is called affusion.
      • although not all christians are baptised, like the salvation army and the quakers,  they dont teach that baptism is wrong, but they believe they are unnecessary and even unhelpful for some.
    • what is a sacrament?
      • In the roman catholic church there are seven sacraments
        • baptism- given shortly after birth to forgive original sin.
        • Confirmation- done when reaching maturity
        • holy communion- the body and blood of jesus christ is eaten to remember the last supper
        • Marriage
        • Holy orders- the deacon, the priest and bishop
        • Penance- and remission of sins
        • anointing of the sick- used to be known as the last rites, given shortly before death.
