- Smoking can increase blood pressure as carbon monoxide decreases the oxygen carrying capacity of blood, it combines with haemoglobin preventing it from combing with oxygen
- Heart disease is caused by restricted blood flow to the heart muscle
- A high level of sautrated fat in the diet causes a build up of cholesterol in arteries
- Narrowing of the arteries caused by plaques in coronary arteries can reduce blood flow to heart muscle, the plaques can cause blood clots and thrombosis is more likely to happpen.
