  • At the home of Martha and Mary.
    • First line
      • "As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
    • Last line
      • "Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Said by Jesus.)
    • Who was there?
      • Jesus
      • Martha
      • Mary
    • Who said what to who?
      • Martha said to Jesus: "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" (Key line)
      • Jesus said to Martha: "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. "Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Key line)
    • The problem was that Martha felt that Mary should have not been alone talking to Jesus but instead helping to serve him. This was because women were treated differently to men at this time. Jesus tells Martha that her sister is behaving in a correct way for him.
    • Today Christians can learn that there are many ways of worshiping God, but no way is more acceptable than another.
