- Paragraph 3: Aquinas - distinguished between innate ability to distinguish between right and wrong (synderesis) and the judgement made by using reason (conscientia). Believed people tended to sway to good and away from evil ( if they did do wrong they were seeking the apparent good not the real good ).
- Paragraph 6: Fromm and the two types of conscience. Both are subjective ( either developed form imposition of particular authority figure or from one's own interpretation of behaviour. Arguably this is not reliable.
