- Had to judge and match line lengths with comparison line 1,2 and 3

- Each group, contained one real participant, others were confederates
- Real Participant always sat last or last but one
- Each participant did 18 trials, 12 of these were the critical trials.
- There was also a control group, were participants judged line length in isolation
- In critical trials participants conformed to the majority 37% of the time
- 75% conformed at least once
- In Control Trial only gave the wrong answer 0.7% of the time
- Control Conditions showed the task was easy to get right.
- People conformed due to normative social influence
