- By doing the 5 Primary Precepts, we can avoid to do evil.

- Secondary Precepts are based on the Primary precepts - if it breaks the primary precepts.
- Aquinas believed that human nature was essentially good 'all that God made was good' When people do evil, it's because they are confused. People never knowingly do evil.
- Apparent Good - Something that appears to be good but really isn't. This is sinning.
- Real Good- Something that actually is good
- NEED to DEVELOP 4 CARDINAL VIRTUES to tell real from apparent
- Temperance (self control)
- Fortitude (courage)
- Prudence (Wisdom)
- Justice (fairness)
- NEED to PRAY for THEO. VIRTUES- can't be developed. Tell real from apparent good
- Faith
- Hope
- Charity
- The conscience is the voice of God within a person helping to decide right from wrong. It needs to be 'informed' or 'trained'
- TEACHES us HOW to act to please God.
