    • The self, congruence and conditions of worth
      • Must be congruence between current and ideal self
      • Roger’s client centred therapy helps to alleviate the incongruence between ideal and current self

      • Conditions of worth which are placed on an individual have an effect on their psychologicaldevelopment and ability to self-actualise and reach ideal self

      • Notion which suggests that humans can make free choices and are not determined by biological and external forces
      • Must look at behaviour holistically and not in just separate parts
    • Self-actualisation
      • Desire for an individual to grow psychologically and fulfil their true potential
      • Maslow’s hierarchy of needs states that all four lower levels must be achieved in order for an individual to reach self-actualisation
