      • When conducting the study Ainsworth found patterns of behaviour in children
      • 66% of infants were secure
      • 22% of infants were insecure-avoidant
      • 12% of infants were insecure-resistant
    • Procedure
      • 1. In a 9x9 foot room the infants movements were recorded
      • 2. She observed: separation anxiety, reunion behaviour and stranger anxiety
      • 3. She observed every 15 seconds by recordings or a one-way mirror
      • 4. She used 5 behavioural categories
        • proximity and contact seeking behaviours
        • contact maintaining behaviours
        • proximity and interaction avoiding behaviours
        • contact and interaction resisting behaviours
        • search behaviours
      • 5. Each item is scored for intensity on a scale of 1 to 7
