      • 1. Parent and baby enter lab set up w/ toys and chairs.
      • 2. Parent does not interact w/ baby; left to explore.
      • 3. Stranger goes into room, talks to parent, approaches baby.. parent leaves.
      • 4. First separation, parents left, stranger interacts.
      • 5. Parent comes to  comfort baby, stranger leaves.
        • first reunion before second separation.
      • 6. Parent leaves infant alone in room.
      • 7. Stranger enters and tries to interact w/ baby again. Mother still absent.
      • 8. Parent returns , greets & picks up baby. stranger quietly leaves.
    • Types of Children Found
      • Type A
        • No Secure base
        • No distress from stranger anxiety
        • Plays alone - no separation anxiety
        • No difference in reunion
      • Type B
        • Happily plays - mother secure base
        • Moderately distressed from separation anxiety
        • Moderately distressed from stranger anxiety
        • Accepts comfort on Reunion
      • Type C
        • No exploring, very clingy to secure base
        • Stranger anxiety - very distressed
        • Separation anxiety - very distressed
        • Reunion behaviour - not ready to accept comfort
