- Problems
- More elderly people living in poverty - don't have a good enough pension
- Aren't enough economically active people - government cannot pay state pension
- Heath care service under pressure - over 75 average stay 13 days; UK average 8 days
- Strategies
- Raise retirement age - 60 and 65 to 68
- Encourage migrant workers - increase economically active people
- Encourage women to have children - family tax credits
- Encourage people to take out private pensions - not so dependant on government
