    • Controlled by enzymes
    • Chemical reactions occur that:
      • Use glucose and oxygen
      • Release energy
        • Used to:
          • Build larger molecules from smaller ones.
          • Enable muscles to contract
          • Maintain a steady body temperature in cold conditions.
          • Build  up sugars, nitratees and other nutrients into amino acids which are then made into proteins.
    • Takes place continuously in both plants and animals.
    • Take place inside mitochondria
    • Glucose + oxygen (goes to) carbon dioxide + water (+energy)
