      • Modood and Berthoud (1997): 67% of young Pakistani and Bangladeshi said religion was still important to them.
      • Religion is an important agent of socialisation/social control
        • England is still a CofE country and our legal system is underpinned by the Ten Commandments.
        • England is multi religious and many people believe religion helps them.

      • Secondary agent
      • Skelton and Francis (2006): Infants like to play with people of the same sex
      • Sewell: We surround ourselves with people of a similar background because we like ‘cultural comfort zones’ as we like people with similar norms and values.
    • Workplace
      • Secondary agent
      • Voas and Crockett(2006/7): Resocialisation When you go into the workplace you have to learn the processes. When you get a new job you have to relearn the processes there.
      • Waddington (1999): Canteen culture The norms and values at work where people are socialised to accept.
      • A serious undertone e.g. racism in the police
    • Basics
      • Primary socialisation is 0-4 and the most important agent is family
      • Secondary socialisation starts at school and all 6 agents affect us through our lives.
