    • Liturgical worship
      • Uses set patterns
      • Congregation respond with set words
      • Many things that are done are the same every service
      • Eg: RCC, CoE, Orthodox
      • Some C's, familiarity can help reflect deeper significance and meaning
      • Symbolic use of colour throughout year represents parts of Jesus' life
      • Liturgies throughout year have distinctive music/hymns/rituals/readings
    • Non-liturgical services
      • More spontaneous, less structure
      • Minister leads service but anyone can pray/hymn/reading
      • Eg: Protestant/Non-conformists
      • Don't get stuck in rut, stop thinking about the meaning
      • Reinforce importance of Bible as authoritative word of God
      • Sermon is focus of service, help congregation understand message in Bible, word of God and links to their daily life
    • Charismatic worship
      • Some C's b possible to experience the same gifts as the HS as the apostles did at Pentecost
      • Gifts of the Spirit inc: worship, speaking in tongues (Glossolalia), prophecy and healing
      • No set pattern. can inc: dancing, clapping, people raising their hands
      • Want to be open to the HS, be led by him during the service. Eg: special prayer, hymn, silent reflection
      • Found in all denominations but most regular in Pentecostal
    • Individual worship
      • Often C's spend time in own private worship. Inc, prayer, Bible reading
      • Is important as their way of developing a relationship with God. Able to study the Bible and seek God's specific guidance for their own lives
    • Introduction
      • Worship - to describe how they feel and acts towards God
      • God communicates with them through worship
      • 3 forms. Affect structure of church service
      • Many spend time praying individually
