Life
Steinbeck was raised in the Episcopal Church but later became Agnostic. He lived in a rural town which was surrounded by farmland. In the summers as a young boy he would work on neighbouring ranches with migrant workers. Through this work he witnessed the harder aspects of a ranch hands life this helped form the basic material for some of his novels for example 'Of Mice and Men.' John Steinbeck died on December 20th 1968 of heart disease and congestive heart failure.
