MAIN BODY-Tell what the main part was
SOURCES-Include speech and say what passer-by's thought
CONCLUSION-End with a summary
First of all the 5ws are: WHO
In a newspaper report you only give opinions on WHY. If you have the actual reason on WHY,
then you may give WHY to the reader. But it is better to give opinions on WHY.
You have to give WHO did WHAT to WHO. You have to give WHEN and WHERE it happened.
But WHY you have to give in the conclusion or sources. I suggest you only use 3 ws as it is shorter.
In the main body, all you do is make the introduction a bit more clearer. Such as if I have
dropped a cat down a well I might say: On Saturday, 12:35PM, Adeel dropped a poor pussy
cat down a well. You could write something like that but of course you woudnt have 1
sentence, you would have 3 or 4. But in a real newspaper, they would have a lot of
SOURCES-INCLUDE SPEECH AND
SAY WHAT PASSER-BY'S THOUGHT
I ,personally, think that the sources is the easiest because all you need to know is the skill,
E.G. It is believed that a passer-by was walking past the well on the day. He reported that
it was on purpose because the cat was driving him mad.
CONCLUSION-END WITH A
In the conclusion all you do is sum it up.
For example: In the end Adeel had a 7 year prison sentence and Mr Oliver was rewarded with, a
trophy for taking care of animals.
