    • Demonstration
      • in a demonstration we wish the learner to copy or model their behaviour on what they see demonstrated
    • Attention
      • learner must be attracted to the demonstration
      • cues should be used to highlight key points
    • Retention
      • the visual model must be retained otherwise performance is not possible
      • learner must keep the skill in the memory
        • helps if they can create a mental picture - imagery, mental rehearsal
      • practice and repetition must take place
    • Motor reproduction
      • Performer has the physical capability to complete the task
    • Motivation
      • learner is more likely to continue practice if they are motivated
        • coach can offer rewards and positive reinforcement
